Air New Zealand Announce A320/A321 Order.

Air New Zealand today announced an order for 14 A320/A321 aircraft. The order is comprised of one A320 Current Engine Option aircraft to join the Domestic fleet which will be delivered in 2015 and 13 A320/A321 New Engine Option aircraft to replace the existing A320s in the International fleet. These will be delivered between 2017 and 2019.  The exact mix of aircraft in this 13 aircraft order is not finalised but will include a minimum of three A321s configured with 206 seats.

Air New Zealand today announced a new standard livery incorporating the new standard white livery – which will be seen on soon to be delivered A320 ZK-OAX, with the fern found on the rear part of the Crazy About Rugby scheme.

Former Freedomair and TAM Airbus A320 ZK-OJK entered Air New Zealand service today operating NZ816 Christchurch – Nadi, NZ819 Nadi – Wellington, NZ818 Wellington – Nadi and NZ817 Nadi – Christchurch.

A320 ZK-OJK Returns to Air New Zealand.

Airbus A320 ZK-OJK departed Seletar today routing as NZ6390 Seletar – Cairns – Christchurch.

This aircraft was delivered to Air New Zealand subsidiary Freedom Air in May 2005 before departing on lease to TAM Airlines of Brazil in July 2006.

The addition of this aircraft brings the A320 fleet up to seventeen.

Boeing 747-419 ZK-NBT was withdrawn from service today after arriving into Auckland as NZ7 from San Francisco. The aircraft was delivered on 31st October 1990 and entered service on 6th November 1990. This leaves two active Boeing 757-400s in the Air New Zealand fleet.

ZK-OKQ Enters Service Early.

Crazy About Rugby liveried Boeing 777-319ER ZK-OKQ entered service today operating NZ2 Auckland – Los Angeles – London Heathrow. This earlier than scheduled service entry is due to ZK-OKP not arriving into Auckland this morning due to its Honolulu diversion.

Air New Zealand Orders ATR72-600s.

Air New Zealand today announced firm orders for seven 68 seat ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft with options for a further five. Deliveries will commence with two aircraft in 2012, two in 2013, and then one in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The aircraft are for expansion of regional services rather than aircraft replacement.
