Air New Zealand Boeing 777-200ER Routes

In 2004 Air New Zealand ordered eight Boeing 777-200ERs for expansion and replacement of part of the Boeing 767-300ER fleet.

Deliveries began in 2005 with the new flat bed herringbone Business Class seats that Air New Zealand had licensed from Virgin Atlantic.

Hong Kong - London Heathrow service Air New Zealand put Boeing 747-400s on the new route and operated the Boeing 777-200s on the NZ1/NZ2 Auckland - Los Angeles - London Heathrow service. The 777-200s were quickly dropped from the NZ1/NZ2 and placed on the Hong Kong route which they have operated ever since.

Currently the Boeing 777-200ER fleet operate from Auckland on trans-Tasman services to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, Pacific Islands routes and International services to Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo and Osaka, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver and the Auckland - Hong Kong - London Heathrow service.

Also included was a two row Premium Economy compartment and personal TVs in the 3-3-3 configuration Economy Class cabin.

The aircraft were initially put to use on routes from Auckland to Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver with fill in trips across the Tasman between overnight longhaul missions.
